Overtime your feet can and will breakdown if you consistently wear shoes that do not fit properly for your foot. Ill fitting shoes can cause bunions, calluses, and permanent damage to your toenail matrix and cause permanent abnormal growth and thickening of the nail plate.
In our younger years, of course, we want to keep up with the latest in foot fashion, rightfully so, but there is a price you will pay later if the shoes you choose to wear do not provide you with the ultimate care of comfort.
One way to care for your feet is to choose a shoe that is properly fitted for your feet. Many shoe retailers will provide shoe fitting services without cost to the consumer. Take advantage of this service. If you wear heels, purchase high heels that have extra padding and some area support in the front and back of the shoe. It is imperative that you do not try to squeeze your feet into shoes that are to small for your feet for the sake of fashion. Wearing shoes that feel good on your feet will give you greater comfort and will provide you with better walking ability.
Besides wearing better shoes, there are other ways to pamper your feet. Rub them down daily with moisturizer and give yourself a good massage a few times a week to get the blood flowing. Treat yourself to a nice pedicure every so often. If you notice that you are starting to develop foot pain, make an appointment to see a Podiatrist.
Ask yourself how far you can get in life without your feet. Answer this question honestly and hopefully you will begin to realize just how important they are.
